"You Don't Come to Make Up the Numbers"
- Murray Baker
In 2005, Andrew Forsman started working for Baker Racing, where an interest in thoroughbred horse racing developed into a passion. Under the tutelage of legendary Kiwi trainer Murray Baker, Andrew quickly forged his own reputation within the industry, and in 2012 became Murray's co-trainer with the birth of Baker-Forsman Racing. The duo prepared multiple G1 winners, with horses such as Dundeel and Mongolian Khan coming out of the Cambridge based stable.
A New Era
With Baker's retirement in 2022, Andrew felt the time was right to take on the challenge of becoming a sole trainer. He has since continued the stables legacy of success, purchasing and training G1 winner Aegon and in 2024 he had his first Melbourne Cup runner in Positivity.
Since going out on his own, Forsman is firmly planted among the top 10 trainers in NZ and maintains an impressive strike rate. In 2025 he reached the impressive milestone of 1000 career wins, with nearly 150 of those coming at Group & Listed level.
Selecting and training quality horses to win big races is what drives the Forsman Racing team, always knowing that next champion could be just around the corner...
